Your most trusted comrade could turn their back on you any second, much as you could do the same to them. Not all of us may act such a way, but many of us hold a tumultuous truth that Gehenna will rip out of us with no shame.
When creating a Character, you can choose to have a Secret. A hidden Foible that is unveiled by choice of the Player upon a significant triggering event. Secrets aren't neccessary for every Character, but they can help with upgrades, switching up a style of gameplay, or simply adding to plot and character development.
Each Character may hold one secret at once.
Nemesis
It turns out that your comrade never really was on your side. This whole time they've had some sort of hidden disgust, or direct connection to you in their past. And now, all of their small slights and odd behaviors make sense. You and them, are mortal enemies.
Hidden Love
Love can in fact bloom on the battlefield. No longer hidden, your love is now finally professed for another, of which you've waited so long. Could this be the start of something wonderful? Or only more pain?
Cursed
Your bloodline, community, or individual self has been plagued by some sort of ritual misfortune. Whether it's you, anyone you encounter, or your surroundings, it's all doomed. It's only down from here, unless there could be a way to break out of the loop?
Branded
That mark on your neck. Maybe you've known it for quite some time, or maybe you never knew of it. Nonetheless, it's a special kind of eternal suffering. The suffering of never being able to die. You will always come back from the accursed Sickle Cell Blood, until you lose your mind and body again, and again, and again.
Coverup Identity
You've been playing an act to cover up your true controversial identity. Your true self is someone of great importance, and potential damnation. Heavens forbid someone were to figure out who you truly are, but alas, the truth has been revealed.
Bloodpact
Somehow, there is some almost supernatural link between you and someone else. Twins separated at birth, childhood friends, something connects you two together for the better or worse.
Fugitive
You're a criminal simply put. There's money being put down for your persecution, and you've been in hiding. Too bad the secret can't hide forever, now everyone knows you for the crook you really are.
Beastcursed
All those blacked out memories and lost nights now suddenly make sense. You've had a horrific condition for the longest time: Spontaneous transformation into a beastly creature, such as a Werewolf or Vampire. With the realization here, the crowds eyes look at you in pure horror...
Parenthood
There is no more room for error anymore, you're bringing new life into this world. Maybe little mattered before, but this has completely changed the trajectory of your life. This new seed means everything.
Guilt
The blood on your hands never dries out. You'll always be haunted by those times of screams, pleas, or isolation. Your close ones knew nothing of it, and maybe you've tried repressing it yourself. Now that it's risen back to light, it's your choice to redeem yourself.
Sole Survivor
It haunts you to this day. Why you? Why were you the only one to come out of that catastrophe that day? You can't shake this feeling that you shouldn't be alive, and this tragedy is now revealed to everyone.
Possessed
You haven't been acting like yourself lately, and it's because you were never in control. For however long, you've only been the passenger of your life. Some unknown entity is in control of you. And they will likely steer you straight into damnation.
Addiction
This compulsion has taken over your life. You've tried your best to hide this dependancy from others, but to no avail. Everyone sees you for the junkie you are.
