The Coin Flip, otherwise known as the Coin of Fate, is a dreaded final moment of chance to determine whether catastrophy may strike. The player is given a 50/50 chance: Take a coin, pick a side, Heads or Tails. If the Coin lands on the chosen side, they may lessen the severity of their situation and avoid the worst of it.
If the Coin lands on the wrong side, this may very well mean death of a character. The GM should hold nothing back, nor should they use Coin Flips very often. These should be used only at the utmost situations of tension and suspense.
Examples of a Coin Flip appropriate situation are:
- Environmental Hazards
- A particularly dangerous Enemy attack
- The interaction of a dangerous volatile object or item
- etc.
